Ever clean up before the maid comes? I do.
I put the remaining dirty dishes in the sink. Clean the stovetop so it’s done the way I like it and put the dirty towels in the hamper so they do not get mistaken for clean ones.
I’m not as bad about it as I once was. In my twenties I used to pick up all the kids legos, make the bed, clean off the papers from the formal dining table we never used and make the bathroom counters look somewhat organized.
Now I do a bare minimal. Where does this habit come from?
I think it is not wanting others to see our mess and our bad habits
The same can come up when we decide to hire a coach.

Do I share just how disorganized my life is? Do I share all my bad habits? Do I admit how I sometimes mess my own self up? Do I admit where I am really stuck?
The simple answer is “Yes.”
As a person who has utilized coaches since I was a young business person (I wish I could say it was not that long ago… 30 years passes faster than you think), I can honestly say, I have learned to be as transparent with my coach and mentors.
I allow my coach to see my habits (good and bad), my limiting beliefs, my failures, my heartbreaks. I let my coach know of what keeps me up at night, what brings me to tears, what brings me joy, what makes me smile.
When I choose a coach, they are my extra pair of eyes, they are my ‘help me understand’ sounding board when I get myself stuck or ineffective.
I ask this level of transparency with my clients. When we have this authentic connection, everything is now possible!
How will you know when you are ready for a coach?
When you are tired of motivating yourself by yourself.
When you feel disorganized and ineffective
When you have exhausted the strategies you have to move forward
When you have plateaued or started to fall backwards
When it feels hard to ‘do a day of doing’

Go claim it! No hesitation… begin now. Be transparent with your coach. Share the good movement and the stuckness. And if you do not yet have a coach… get a coach you can be 100% transparent with in your corner and embrace the next version of your awesome self!
