A ‘friend’ on Facebook reached out this past week and asked to come into my offices for a complimentary consult to learn of our services. His first question as he sat down, “What is your genius?” was one that would normally come from my mouth to the ears of the person in front of me. I appreciated his candor and directness but found myself reaching for that proverbial elevator pitch. In this case, it felt as though a standard marketing and branding answer would fall short. I breathed into the question and spoke from my heart.
“My genius is seeing genius, unharnessed potential in others, helping them dissolve and transform their doubt, the hesitance, the comparative mind that holds them back.” A gentle breath flowed through me as I allowed what wanted to speak through me to have its voice. “I believe in people when they do not. I give them strategy and tools to slay what is mentally in their way, and resolution to move forward into confidence and ease.I become, in essence, their truest, most intimate cheerleader. The one who knows their fears, deepest doubts and holds their hands through it all, never letting them lose sight of what they truly want in their life.” It was more than I could express with words, yet just being willing to answer the simple question, “What is your genius?” seemed to connect a distinct stream of voices straight from my heart.
Have you ever felt a freedom and calling so deeply that it hurt to hold it back?
Have you ever, in the secret areas of your life, longed for expression and contribution of your gifts yet ‘got on with life’ so that you could pay the bills… leaving that secret hidden away?
Your genius rests inside you. Sometimes it gets to shine in small places, at intermittent times, or is being used now but not as fully as you could bring it.
Your genius is your place of happiness, of peace, of love in our world and can unlock all that you have ever longed for.
This week I tapped into my own genius even deeper.
You can too.
